It's February and we are still stuck in this dreary moodswing weather.. but being British, we get on with it. Not with a stiff upper lip, but with an injection of COLOUR !

Spring's palette is awash with pastels, fluoros and block colours, so make it pop until we make it to April.. here's how:

1. Make like WAH Nails and get happy hands with a brush of highlighter orange

2. If you're brave enough, block your colours; Christopher Kane pioneered this in his Spring 2011 show. If you're not ready for pure colour, add a fierce studded belt and a wide brimmed fedora to rock it on the street.

3. Subtle pops of colour are a simple way to bring any outfit bang up to date. Rock this skirt with black opaques and maybe a slick of Ruby Woo lipstick and you've got yourself a statement.

Trends are just that, aren't they? A trend. As soon as you master walking in mule clogs with little grip and no platform, midi heels are creeping up on you (as I've discussed, however- I will NOT be sampling these monstrosities).

But style.. Oh, Style! This is something entirely different. It's being able to look good in a pair of jeans and a tee-shirt. It's working a dress with no accessories. It's that shirt. And it's eternal. Style is special, and it's very hard to bottle.. it's not kitsch and it's not proper, but by God, does it look good. See, to be honest- my sense of the phrase eternal style doesn't carry a dictionary definition, I'll have to show you...

Style is a force so formidable that, when pitted against trend- it'd beat it hands down any day of the week. It's the way you walk, the way you carry the clothes, the chic, the effortlessness, the epitome of sheer sartorial bliss. It'll cost you a few hiccups, but style is the light at the end of the tunnel.

Today is Tuesday, which can only mean one thing: Grazia day. Every issue is a masterpiece, but the new season is fast approaching and the Grazia girls have done their homework.. I was swooning at every page.

The catwalk has gone all Mad Men: nipped in waists, skinny belts, full skirts and sensible accessories. Fendi's offering is one of my favourites.. fits the above description, but fierce hair and killer heels bring it bang up to date faster than your Austin A30 can flat-out drag, man.

Being a born and raised scouser, I've been subject to a certain mantra that: the bigger, the better. Now of, course, this comes within reason- but when it comes to a few things, this rule is law; for example, big hair, big lashes and very big shoes. This is why, dear reader, I am finding it increasingly difficult to fathom why, kitten heels are attempting to squirm themselves into the style stratosphere. To myself, and many of my heel loving fiends,

below three inches is simply cheating!

Now, take Topshop- a high street favourite of mine, who always tend to provide for the high, sexy and positively scary shoe fetish I have- they've only gone and created the 'Jemima'.

See, I'd like to think I'm pretty open minded when it comes to fashion. Barely there lace? Done it. Clogs? Got them. But in what universe is it socially, let alone fashionably acceptable to wear such shoes that are so plain, so demure, that don't create a strut, but more of a waddle when worn?

This season, I won't be signing up to these weak kittens, I'll be squaring up to something much more fierce- the lioness, if you will. Kurt Geiger have stepped up to this challenge and created the very flattering and outright mean 'Glam'.

Heels are reliable. They're confident. They're sexy. And they catapult you an inch or two above your peers (or at least put you at eye level if you're small like me). See, heels are a special kinda thing.. and every pair home an emotion or a message that you want to send out. But. What about the rest of you?

Do you ever get that.. in your morning haste, you throw together an outfit which doesn't do the heels you're in justice? .. this is a hiccup. It's knowing that yeah, the dress is a bit boring and yeah, you didn't have time for accessories but Hell yeah, heels just made it interesting.

So, as a salute to heels and a vow to cut back on hiccups.. I present to you;
